Read this newsletter in your browser Hey guys, Adobe seems to have introduced a severe bug with the new Lightroom Classic 9 which was released earlier this week. This bug concerns custom export plugins, like LRTExport. Basically Lightroom 9 ignores any custom export settings that 3rd party export modules set and instead always exports in JPG with default settings, no matter what the Plugin says. That means, if you choose any of the TIFF settings in LRTExport, you will get JPG files, named as TIFF, but still JPG files, which will make the Renderer fail. I've spent a whole day evaluating this and could even prove the behavior with a very simple sample export script, that I've also provided to Adobe. And I'm not the only one complaining about this - I guess, many others will follow, as soon as they notice what's happening. Here is a forum thread, where I also linked to my bug report to Adobe. Currently, I can only recommend not to upgrade to Lightroom Classic 9, just stay with the previous version until this has been fixed. I'll let you know with another newsletter. If you already updated and need to use the TIFF export, in the forum thread, I provide a temporary solution via a simple export preset for TIFF sequences. LRTimelapse Free and Private users, that only Export JPG might not be affected, because they only work with JPG exports, but in any case, it might be safe to stay with the former version 8.4.1 until that problem has been fixed. If you have already upgraded, you might be able to downgrade Lightroom Classic to 8.4.1: in the Adobe Creative Cloud Application, just click on the three dots next to Lightroom Classic and choose "Other Versions". Then you can select to go back to 8.4.1. But this will most likely require you to go back to the catalog before it was migrated to 9 and you might lose the work you did in the meantime. Therefore, using the simple export preset for now, might be the better solution if you already upgraded. Please stay tuned, I'll keep you posted. All the best PS: If you have any questions, please feel free to join us in the forum.
