LRTimelapse 6.0.4 is available for download

LRTimelapse 6.0.4 fixes a couple of issues reported by users in the forum.

  • In some constellations calculating the auto transition could fail with an error. Fixed.
  • In some cases timestamps with millis were read from the exif date of the camera with only one decimal place, then the interval calculation would also display wrong values. Fixed.
  • When using the internal “rename with date prefix” feature (F2) on a fresh sequence the XMP wouldn’t be saved. Fixed.
  • Keyframes Wizard would in some cases remove keyframes without crating new ones when activated multiple times. Fixed.
  • Fixed position of build number on Splash screen
  • Some improvements in logging.

Please update as soon as possible. You can find the new version on the download page.

LRTimelapse 6.0.3 is ready for download!

LRTimelapse 6.0.3 brings some improvements and fixes a couple of issues reported by forum users.

This is what I’ve worked on:

  • Fixed check for new DNG Converter version not working on some systems
  • If rendering in source resolution or the size of the source material was smaller than the desired render output size, a forced crop to a predefined aspect ratio was not applied. Fixed.
  • Internal Export and Render: If the user doesn’t assign a render folder, the render dialog will now close.
  • Render Dialog: Improved switching between render from an intermediary sequence and export and render. Handling of special cases, for example where no output path is provided is more robust now.
  • Render Dialog: Added a descriptions to the “Select output folder” dialog and the “Choose intermediary sequence” dialogs.
  • LRTimelapse Importer: subfolderes wouldn’t always have been created as requested.
  • Unused .lrt helper folders will now also be removed when exiting without saving (6.0.2 only did that when switching folders).
  • Removed log entries for every single moved or removed file, instead now there will be one log entry only.
  • Refactored moving and removing of files
  • When visual previews cannot be generated after 3 attempts, the Visual Lum column will now show “ERR”.
  • Any error status from creating visual previews will be reset via “forced save” (Shift+Save).
  • Shift-Reload will now also reset the visual previews and any error status on them.
  • Added tooltips to keyframes column.

Please update asap, as always you can download the new version on the download page.

If you have any questions or feedback, let me know in the forum!

LRTimelapse 6.0.2 ready for download!

Hey guys, LRTimelapse 6.0.2 is ready and brings a lot of fixes and improvements. Thanks to everyone that contributed with ideas and feedback in the forum!

This is what’s new:

  • Increased mouse wheel scroll speed on editor panel and in the render dialog.
  • Visual Deflicker: Mark as Finished and Increase Rating functions were swapped. Fixed.
  • When loading a folder and not saving, now the .lrt helper folder will be removed, this prevents the creation of .lrt folders in non timelapse locations.
  • Editor Panel: Clicking left/right of the sliders will now do steps of 5 (Integer values) or 0.5 (Exposure) or 500 (WB)
  • Added Multithreading to ExifTool image extractions, this should further increase the performance on high performance machines
  • Maximum recommended number of parallel processes on Apple M1 machines is now 16 because tests on M1 Ultra machines showed no further gain from more parallel threads.
  • Allow importing files to subfolders which name consist only of the Date/Time prefix
  • Fixed migration issue from old version’s “last path” setting
  • Prevent the user from setting the output path for rendering to the path with the original images.
  • Removed DNG Converter Debug info from Log file
  • If the default temp folder of the OS was not correctly configured, LRT would just not launch. Now there will be a proper error message.
  • Loading long sequences with already existant visual previews could lead to a stall of the UI / high processor load after the previews were loaded. Fixed.
  • Reduced waiting time for visual preview workers
  • Fixed font in Licensing dialog

Please update asap, you can download the new version on the download page. If you have any questions or feedback, let me know in the forum!

PS: If you didn’t upgrade your license to LRTimelapse 6 yet, you can still get the discounted upgrades and crossgrades on the upgrade page.

All the best,
Gunther

LRTimelapse 6.0.1 out, with some fixes

First of all I’d like to say thanks for all the positive feedback about LRTimelapse 6 so far and everyone who already supported me by buying a license or upgrade! Big hug! 🤗

Some minor things were reported by users and I’ve decided to quickly release 6.0.1 with those fixes.

This is what’s new:

  • Render Presets could not be created with Source Resolution if no intermediary sequence was loaded. Fixed.
  • Intermediary sequence could show as “Non Standard Naming” in the Render dialog, even if it was exported by LRTExport or LRTimelapse. Fixed.
  • LRTimelapse would not launch on Macs with a startup drive that is APFS formatted with “Case Sensitive” option. Fixed.
  • Reduced the maximum number of recommended parallel processes to 32, more usually wouldn’t deploy any advantage, but of course experienced users with high end workstations could still set higher values.
  • Fixed confusing naming of the Masks Versions / Lightroom Versions in settings dialog.
  • ProRes files will now be tagged with an Apple vendor tag to increase compatibility.

Please download the new version from the Download page. If you already have 6.0 installed before, there is no need to uninstall the former version first.

If you are new to LRTimelapse 6, please see my last blog post, where I’ve linked to all the necessary information, my new Tutorials etc…

If you have any questions, please come to the forum!

LRTimelapse 6 is released: with many new features and improved performance!

With many new features for the ambitious time-lapse photographer and massive performance improvements, LRTimelapse 6 is the tool for anyone shooting and editing time-lapse. The new version is available for download now. (German Version / Deutsche Version dieses Artikels)

And this is new compared to version 5:

  • Major performance improvements, e.g. when loading sequences
  • Native version for Apple M1 devices (Silicon): Apple users who have one of the new M1 Macs with ARM processor now benefit from a further speed advantage thanks to a version optimized specifically for these devices.
  • Internal workflow without Lightroom (with a few limitations).
    • Integrated editor for direct editing of keyframes in LRTimelapse.
    • Integrated export and rendering.
  • Render presets
  • Enhancements in long term filters
  • Improvements in batch processes
  • …and much more!

In my video, which I already published when the beta version was released, I show you the innovations in detail:

In the meantime, I also updated the LRTimelapse website, updated the instructions and produced new video tutorials for LRTimelapse 6, in both English and German.

Here is the new Basic Tutorial:

And here is the Tutorial for the Internal Workflow:

…and here is the tutorial for Holy Grail editing:

BTW: Did you already subscribe to the LRTimelapse Youtube Channel?

You can find more tutorials on the LRTimelapse tutorial page. There are also written instructions for LRTimelapse if you prefer those.

As always, you can try LRTimelapse 6 before you buy a license. The limitations are the same as for the previous versions. Most importantly, in the free version the length of the time-lapse sequences is limited to 400 frames and the video output is limited to Full HD.

Of course, if you like LRTimelapse, I will be more than happy if you buy a license to unleash the full potential of the software and support my work. Anyone who has a former LRTimelapse 5 or 4 license is entitled to a discounted upgrade.

Everyone who bought his LRT 5 license after 01.10.2021 does not need to buy an Upgrade but can use LRTimelapse 6 directly with the existing license.

You can get the new licenses for LRTimelapse 6 in the LRTimelapse Shop.

I hope you like the new version and I look forward to your feedback in the forum! Thanks a lot!

LRTimelapse 6 – public beta released and my video with the new features!

With the public beta version of LRTimelapse 6 you can already try out the new features of the new Version and give me feedback in the LRTimelapse Forum.

The last few months have been very busy. I have finished a new major version of LRTimelapse – the first major upgrade after 4 years and therefore also a paid upgrade.

I have been working on LRTimelapse 6 for the last years in parallel to the updates for LRTimelapse 5, but of course there is a “mountain of work” just before the release, where I can hardly think about anything else.

Normally such major upgrades come about every 2 years, but 2 years ago the Corona pandemic had just started and therefore I decided to make the last major upgrade free of charge and mark it as Version 5.5. I didn’t want to impose a paid upgrade on the creatives who had lost a lot of business at that time.

But now the time has finally come, LRTimelapse 6 is now available in its 5th beta version and has already been extensively tested by some users on their systems. I expect to be able to release the final version 6.0 soon.

LRTimelapse 6 is, as I said, the first paid upgrade in 4 years. I have kept the prices constant and as always there are discounted upgrades and the crossgrade for owners of a previous version.

Anyone who bought their LRT 5 license on or after 01.10.2021 can use LRTimelapse 6 directly with it. Any LRT 6 License also works with Version 5.8. You can already buy the LRT 6 Licenses and upgrades in the LRTimelapse Shop.

Otherwise, there is still the Free version that you can use for testing.

I would like to invite you to watch my video with the new features and afterwards test the new version yourself and give me feedback in the forum.

Here are the most important new features that I showed in the video above:

  • Major performance improvements, e.g. when loading sequences
  • Native Apple Silicon Version: Apple users who have one of the new M1 Macs with ARM processor (Silicon) now benefit from an additional speed advantage through the Native Version
  • Integrated editor for direct editing of keyframes in LRTimelapse
  • Integrated export and rendering
  • Render presets
  • Additions to the long-term filters
  • Batch processes are now displayed individually and can also be terminated individually.
  • …and much more!

I hope you like the new version and I look forward to your feedback in the beta forum!

Thanks a lot,
Gunther

LRTimelapse 5.7.2 available for download

Hey guys,

I’ve just released LRTimelapse 5.7.2 which fixed a couple of issues that users reported, especially with migrating Gradient settings from preedited sequences to the new Masks 2.0 format. Thanks to everyone who helped finding those, as a developer it’s quite impossible to test upfront every situation that might occur in practical use.

Here is what’s changed:

  • Fixed a potential issue with batch operations when no sequence was loaded
  • Fixed migration errors from older sequences already edited with Masks V1 to  Masks V2 which could occur in rare situations
  • When playback of a sequence finished, the play button would need to be pressed twice for another playback. Fixed.
  • If a Canon R camera was set to HDR PQ Settings = On, LRTimelapse would crash when loading such sequences. This will not happen anymore, but please turn off that settings, otherwise LRTimelapse will be slow decoding the previews of the sequences. More details in the forum.

Please update your LRTimelapse as soon as possible. To update just download the new version and install over the old one. No need to uninstall first. As always, make sure that LRTimelapse and Lightroom are closed while installing.

If you have any question, let me know in the forum!

All the best
Gunther

LRTimelapse 5.7 and Lightroom 11 released – please read!

It’s time: the new versions Lightroom Classic 11 and LRTimelapse 5.7 are released and with them the new masks features! In this article I’ll explain what you have to pay attention to now. I’ve also recorded a tutorial video for you. (Deutsche Version des Artikels hier)

With Masks 2.0 Adobe replaces in Lightroom 11 the good old graduated filters and brushes by a more flexible system which offers extended possibilities. Masks can now be combined and consist of different components, among other things.

For LRTimelapse, which not only animates graduated filters but also uses them for some corrections, like the Deflicker and the Holy Grail Wizard, this means some significant internal changes. But don’t worry, I’ve been working hard over the last few months to come up with a solution that will make the transition as smooth as possible even for existing sequences.
